While you may be aware that Turkey was the long-time capital of both the Roman and Ottoman Empires, did you know that the country is also the home to some really exciting new golf? Perhaps you were already aware that it was Turkey, and not Holland, that gave the world the Tulip, but as I recently discovered, there is so much more in this country, including golf! The same year as the Winter Olympics in Utah, 2002, Pete Dye finished his masterpiece at Promontory on the East slopes overlooking Park City. Then Jack Nicklaus added his signature design in 2007. There is a third and fourth course planned, a par 60 short course by Forrest Richardson and a championship layout by Tom Weiskopf. That did it. The Gold…oops Golf Rush was on. |
